06 — so sing it back if you're with me
(continued from here!)
[a few days pass. between recuperating and catching up with assignments and returning to the grind of their internships, they somehow find a moment to make it back down to the sealed off block (with sir nighteye and ryukyu's approval, of course).
by the time the bus reaches their stop, uraraka can already tell from her window seat that the reconstruction process is coming along nicely. there are workers moving from place to place, carrying materials or using their quirks to help clear away any of the wreckage. some volunteers have also gathered to help or offer food and water to anyone displaced. it's a community effort, and she can't but feel excited to dive right in and join it.
eyes wide with determination, she claps a hand on his shoulder, furiously shaking him.]
Deku-kun, Deku-kun! C'mon, we're here! Let's go!

[He'd picked the wrong time to realize one of his shoes was untied. He's quick to get that situated though so he can follow Uraraka off the bus, his backpack over his shoulders as they both step onto the scene. They're both acting as Deku and Uravity today, which meant that they had a certain level of authority here acting as heroes under the behest of the agencies they were currently interned with. Izuku was determined not to let Sit Nighteye down. He also has that red blouse from before stuffed into one of the pockets of his hero costume, the number of the apartment that had collapsed memorized.]
Where should we start first?
jdfsk sorry for the delay!!
huh. where did she... oh, there it is, lodged under her pencil case!! finally unearthing her flip phone, she throws her arms up in celebration, nearly hitting a passerby in her exuberance. oops.]
Phew, found it! It says... [a few taps of the keys, and she opens up the chatlog between she and her father. although he'd promised her a few of his employees, he himself hadn't been able to squeeze in time to make the trip down to musutafu—which she'd expected and was completely fine with!!! but it did make her heart pang a bit to see the message again. coughing slightly, her eyes travel further down the screen and—]
Alright, for now, our focus is to clear everything out of the way, since it's so dangerous! Apparently, there should be trucks nearby where we can put all of the rubble. Any items that are still usable and might belong to someone gooooo... [she holds out the syllable, twisting her body every which way in search of a designated area.] ...somewhere. Not sure! Guess we'll figure it out.
no worries!
He nods, balling up and raising a fist in front of himself.]
Let's get started, then! I'll ask around and see if I can find where the area for saving items is supposed to be.

[she nods her head enthusiastically, arms pumping up and down.
uraraka's in her element, no doubt about it. she grew up in this sort of environment, watching on the sidelines as her father and his employees came together and did their part to build something long-lasting. sometimes she'd get to help out, but for the most part, her contributions were kept to little things. boring stuff like organizing all the nuts and bolts into different containers by size. bleh.
but now that she has the chance to really dig her hands into the thick of the work, she's intent on making herself useful, especially since she and deku had a big role in the destruction...
just as she's about to leave to go do some snooping of her own, she pauses in mid-turn.]
Er, do you want me to ask around? You know, to see if anyone's been missing a blouse?

[Izuku hesitates himself, then, reaching over to his pocket where the edge of the blouse is peeking out. It's since been washed, and though it's a silly and inconsequential thing, he feels responsible for it nonetheless. He's sure that someone who had lost their home would be grateful to have anything left from it returned to them.
So to her question, he nods curtly.]
Yeah. We might not have much luck with it, but it couldn't hurt to try.

Don't worry, I'm sure we'll fine them! Or someone who can point us in the right direction, at least. [she's about to turn around and get on her way, when she halts mid-turn, brows arching in a sort of ahah! moment.] Actually, hold on... I think I have an idea.
[flip phone still in hand, she taps at the keys until she's launched the camera application. then, with the slightest raise of her outstretched arm, she waits for it to focus onto deku. the quality's not all that great, grainy as it is, but as long as she's got a somewhat clear view of him, it should be fine.]
Don't you think it'd help if I had a picture of you and the blouse on hand? Just in case?
no subject
[He quickly pulls the blouse out so he can fully unfold it, holding it up with a somewhat awkward smile on his end.]
How's this?
no subject
It's okay, but maybe you should strike a pose?
no subject
[Pose...what kind of pose would a real hero make in this situation?
He falters, trying to figure out what to do, before he just...holds the blouse up in one hand and makes a fist with the other, his arm bent up at the elbow as he forces his smile wider.]
How about now?
